Among the many YouTubers who have succeeded in winning the hearts of millions of people is Wengie. She is a Chinese-Australian YouTube personality, vlogger, singer, and voice actress.
Wengie is popular for a lot of things, including her simple life hacks, DIYs, craft ideas, fun experiments, tricks and pranks, hair tutorials, diet & fitness tips, lookbooks & fashion videos, skincare tutorials and tips, among many other things.
As of December 2018, her first YouTube channel, Wengie, had more than 13 million subscribers and over 1.2 billion views. This made her Australia’s most popular YouTuber.
Wengie’s Bio
Born as Wendie Ayche on 9 January 1986, in Guangzhou, China, the YouTube goddess is better known as Wengie which is another version of her Chinese name, Wen Jie. She started using the name when she was teaching dance classes because there were two Wendies at the studio she worked at. Everybody called her Wengie and it stuck.
Her family was one of the first-generation immigrants in Australia. At age 35, her father moved from China to Australia as a refugee after the Tiananmen Square massacre. At the time, he did not know how to speak English so, he learned it from the scratch and later did his PhD. Some years later, his wife joined him, leaving Wengie behind in China under the care of her nanny and grandparents. Wengie later joined her parents when she was four.
Although her mom is a university graduate back home, she became a cleaner because that was the only job she could get. Wengie was usually all by herself at home as her parents had to work late to make ends meet. Things were so difficult for the immigrant family that almost everything they used at home was second hand. Wengie had to make most of the toys she used by herself and that was how her creativity started. He parents eventually moved to Sydney when she was 7, having found better jobs there.
When she was in high school, her mom gave birth to her brother named Jim. After high school, she studied accounting in college and worked as an account for four years before she resigned and got another job as a social media consultant. Following her success at the job, she was promoted to head the department.
While working as a social media consultant, she started her own fashion blog and later launched her first YouTube channel, “Wengie,” on Feb 11, 2013, where she posted make-up, fashion and “Do It Yourself” (DIY) videos. She would film and edit her videos during her lunch breaks and at home after work. She worked so hard to combine building her channel and blog with her day job that even her social life suffered.
However, in August 2014, she eventually decided to quit her job which was paying her in six figures to pursue Youtube full-time. Speaking in an interview with tubefilter.com, the YouTuber said it was one of the most difficult things she has ever had to do. Thankfully, it paid off.
Within the first three years of creating her channel, it garnered more than 4 million subscribers, making Wengie one of the fastest growing YouTube stars as of 2016. In 2017, her channel was awarded “Best Channel” and “Overall Winner” at that year’s Australian Online Video Awards.
In 2018, she focused mainly on DIY, prank, and slime videos and as of January of that year, her channel was the 6th most subscribed “how-to and style” channel on YouTube. By December 2018, she had over 13 million subscribers and more than 1.2 billion views.
She created two more channels in 2013, including WengieVlogs (changed to “Wendie ft. Wengie” in October 2018) and Wengie Music Asia. As of December 2018, the channels had 1,941,147 subscribers, over 50 million views and 13,477,363 views respectively. The following year (2014) after creating her last two channels, Wengie created another one named Wonderful World of Wengie and in 2018, she started “Wengie Music” channel.
Wengie’s first single, “Baby Believe Me” was released in China on 13 July 2017. She followed it up with another song, “Oh I Do” which she released same year – 25 November, on her YouTube channel, “Wengie Music Asia”. On 10 July 2018, she released her first English single titled “Cake” on her YouTube channel “Wengie Music”.
Plastic Surgery
There were rumours that the YouTube star underwent plastic surgery and judging from her before and after pictures, this may be true. Although the speculations were never confirmed, a look at her face after the alleged surgery shows it is highly probable that Wengie had tear bag injection, a nose job, jaw shaving, lip fillers, botox and perhaps double eyelid surgery. Unlike before, she now looks like an anime character with huge eyes and a tiny chin.

Is She Married, Who Is The Boyfriend Or Husband?
The YouTube queen is not yet married but is currently engaged to a charming young man simply known as Max. They started dating in 2011 and got engaged in August 2015. Max has featured in many of Wengie’s YouTube videos. The couple also has a channel named “Reacticorns”.
