Her birth name is Tiffany Sarac Haddish, born on December 3, 1979, in Los Angeles, California to an Eritrean refugee of Jewish and Ethiopian descent Tshihaye Reda Haddish and his wife an African American businesswoman and Jehovah Witness devotee Leola Haddish. Her father abandoned his family when Tiffany was three years old and her mother married another man with whom she had four more children; two boys and two girls making Tiffany an elder sister to four siblings.
Leola, Tiffany’s mom had a motor accident purportedly engineered by her new husband who had tampered with her vehicle brakes in 1988. She suffered severe brain damage and developed schizophrenia due to complications caused by the injuries. Her health condition made her abusive to her kids. Due to this, Tiffany Haddish and her four siblings were placed in separate foster homes when she was just 12; the young Tiffany used her unique sense of humor as a shock absorber to cope with the unsavory situation surrounding her so early in life. Thankfully, 3 years later she was reunited with her siblings.
Tiffany attended George Ellery Hale Middle School, Woodland Hills from where she graduated and attended El Camino Real High School in the same locality. The actress struggled with a reading disability until high school when she met a tutor who dedicated time to put help her overcome her difficulties.
