Ryan Destiny – Bio (Age, Ethnicity)
Like her name, it seemed to have been written in the stars that Ryan would become a singer. At the very young age of 12, Ryan had already formed her own music group. Born on the 8th of January, 1995 in Detroit, Michigan as Ryan Destiny Irons, she always had a strong passion for music as though it were passed down to her in a genetic code by her father, Deron Irons, who was a member of Guesss, a ’90s R&B group. Both her parents supported her as her musical talent began to manifest. Her mother, Dawn Irons, helped her and her group secure their audition on America’s Got Talent which was the start of a glowing career for Ryan.
Ryan Destiny has spoken of her issues with her skin colour as a result of her biracial origins. She is a dark-skinned African-American who shares Caucasian origins on her mother’s side of the family.
As someone who has been committed to music since she was a child, college was not in the plans for Ryan Destiny. She did, however, graduate from West Bloomfield High School. While her schoolmates were focused on passing trigonometry and maintaining a solid GPA to get into a top college, Ryan formed her first music group, New Limit. The group consisted of Jasmine Pore and a friend whose identity is currently unknown.
Under the management of her mother, the group made it to America’s Got Talent in 2011 and finished in the third round. After the competition, Destiny returned to Michigan, taking different voice and dance lessons in order to further improve herself. New Limit eventually broke up and reformed with Destiny, Pore and a former contestant of America’s Got Talent, Chelsea Stone. The trio initially named their group We are DollHouse but finally landed on Love Dollhouse.
Without releasing any music, the group was signed to All Def which is owned by the legendary Russell Simmons and a couple of other associates. Having been signed to the label, the group went into the studio and recorded their first song – Can I? The release of the single did not do much to expose the group to the music industry and fans. Eventually, the group got disbanded and Ryan Destiny found a record deal with Capitol Records. After joining Capitol, she announced plans for her first solo release in 2016.
While music has been the core life of Destiny, she has shown herself to be a multi-talented lady. She is also an actress who appeared in a few projects before she found her most famous project till date on Fox’s Star . She first got her acting baptism in a web series, The Wannabes Starring Savvy in 2010. She later took a break from acting, focusing on building a music career but returned to the front of the camera in 2013 in a recurring role as April Geddes in Low Winter Sun . In 2015, she got a role in the Independent film, A Girl Like Grace , playing the lead role alongside Garcelle Beauvais and Raven-Symoné. She began to appear as Alexandra Crane as part of the lead cast in 2016 for the show, Star.
So far, she has found recognition with the Teen Choice Awards as Choice Breakout TV Star. She was nominated in 2017.
