Phillipa Soo was born on the 31st of May 1990 in Chicago, Illinois. Her father is Chinese-American while her mother is European-American with English, Scottish and Irish ancestry. Soo, therefore, has a mixed ethnicity comprising of Chinese, Irish, Scottish and English elements. The young Soo grew up in a creative environment filled with music, dancing and art. In addition, her mom worked as a theatre admin and often took her to see various Shakespearean plays.
