A lot of adults today once burned with the passion and dream of becoming one thing but end up becoming something else, not because the passion they once nursed was unattainable, but because they lacked the will to chase their dream. This is obviously not the case with Luke Combs, who began singing as a child and has now become a star country music singer and songwriter.
The talented American vocalist gained popularity in 2015 through his first single titled Hurricane and has also earned a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist.
Born Luke Albert Combs on March 2, 1990, in Charlotte, North Carolina, the singer relocated to Asheville, North Carolin, when he was 8 years old and later moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in pursuit of his music career.
He released his first and second EP titled The Way She Rides and Can I Get an Outlaw in 2014. The following year, he released his first single, Hurricane , which debuted at number 46 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. It was a commercial success, selling more than 15,000 copies in its first week. Towards the end of 2015, Luke Combs released his third EP, This One’s for You .
Two years later, he released his major label debut album, also titled This One’s for You. He later landed a contract with Sony Music Nashville, and Hurricane , his debut single from This One’s for You, was released again. For two weeks, it was number one on the US airplay charts and also peaked at number one and five on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and Billboard 200 respectively, in its first week.
The album’s second single, When It Rains It Pours and third single, One Number Away, were both released to country radio subsequently in October 2017 and on January 8, 2018, respectively. Mid-way into 2018, Luke Combs re-released This One’s for You.
He debuted his new song, Every Little Bit Helps on January 1, 2019, after hitting the 1 million followers milestone on Instagram. The year will be a very busy one for him as he would kick off his Beer Never Broke My Heart tour on January 31, 2019, in Birmingham, Alabama.
His Net Worth
Luke has made some good money from his music career thus far. His singles; Hurricane , When It Rains It Pours , One Number Away, and She Got The Best of Me all peaked at number one on US Airplay. The total value of his wealth at the moment is believed to be somewhere around $5 million.
Luke Combs’ Wife/Girlfriend and Family Life
The Country music hit-maker is in a serious relationship with his longtime girlfriend, Nicole Hocking who was born and raised in Fort Myers, Florida, and attended Florida Gulf Coast University.
They met in early 2016, at the time when Luke was just starting out in Nashville and had nothing – no publishing deal, no record deal, and no booking deal. Speaking with PEOPLE in 2018, Combs said everybody believed their relationship was not going to work but thus far, they have proved those people wrong.
On November 29, 2018, the couple took their first step toward spending the rest of their lives together by getting engaged. The singer announced on his Instagram page that he popped the big question to Nicole Hocking and that she said yes.
Although the announcement came along with a picture of the duo posing against the backdrop of a beautiful sunset, the actual proposal most likely happened in a more humble location. The excited bride-to-be also shared the picture on her Instagram page with the caption “You’re stuck with me forever!”
Luke Combs’ fiancée has influenced his life in so many ways. According to him, she has even helped him let go of some bad habits and at the 2018 CMA Awards on November 14, 2018, he showered praises on his sweetheart after he received the New Artist of the Year trophy.
Details of the couple’s wedding are yet to be known but it will probably take place after Combs’ 2019 Beer Never Broke My Heart Tour which will be launched on January 31, 2019, in Birmingham, Ala.
Luke, the only child of his parents, was raised in a lower-middle-class home. From the time he started singing as a child, his parents have supported him all the way and are proud of the man he has become. Despite his fame, his relationship with his family – both nuclear and extended – has not changed except that he does not get to see them as frequently as he used to.
