Craig Ferguson was born into an average British family on the 17th of May in 1962 in Springburn, Glasgow to Robert Ferguson and Janet Ferguson. Though he was born in Springburn, the family later moved to Cumbernauld where he was raised as a result of the rehousing of UK citizens in the aftermath of World War II. He has three other siblings – a brother and two sisters.

For his formal education, which was rather brief, he attended Muirfield Primary School and Cumbernauld, but dropped out at the age of 16 for engaging in heavy drinking while he trained as an electronics technician. Craig then worked as a construction worker and bouncer before he became a comedian and celebrity.

Today, he’s known in the United States as one of late night television’s best hosts but before he moved to the United States in pursuit of a career in entertainment, he first visited in 1975 when he was only 13 to see his uncle in Long Island.

Craig Ferguson’s entertainment career began in the UK, specifically in Glasgow. He became a drummer for Exposure, a rock band in Glasgow and then later for a punk band named The Bastards from Hell.

His foray into comedy was from the inspiration of the lead singer of The Bastards from Hell, who renamed themselves to Dreamboys, Peter Capaldi. He began performing his acts at Glasgow clubs and small entertainment venues and subsequently performed at Edinburgh Festival in 1986 where he was spotted by a man who would later become his agent. Rick Siegel advised him to move to the United States.

However, before he made the move, Craig Ferguson debuted on television in the UK in shows like Red Dwarf , Hogmanay Show , and 2000 Not Out . He had considerable success on British television before he moved to the US in 1994.

In the US, where he would eventually become famous, Ferguson first began to star on a show called Maybe This Time . Although the show was short-lived, he got a chance to appear alongside icons like Betty White and Marie Osmond.

He was later cast as Mr. Mick on The Drew Carey Show and played the role for 7 years. The role was the breakout role he needed to get his US career off the ground. The album also reached number 6 on Billboard’s top comedy albums. As a Television host, Craig Ferguson hosted The Late Late Show on CBS from 2005 to 2014.
